Restrictions for Children* and Pets

We love them both, but unfortunately several cars in our fleet of classics are either two-door coupes or roadsters. There may be a back seat, but the cars were not designed for prolonged back seat travel. Travelers would be quite uncomfortable and the wear on the vehicle—climbing in and out over the folding seat backs—would be substantial. The back seats DO have seat belts, but not shoulder harnesses which would be required to secure both a baby and booster seat. The limitation on pets is mainly for the longevity of our vehicles.

*The 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air and the 1957 Chevrolet 150 can accommodate two children or two additional adults in the back seat.

Age Requirement

Our insurance carrier limits driving of our vehicles to persons age 25 or older.

Driver’s License and International Driver’s Permit

Once you book we will require a copy of the valid, current driver’s license issued from your state, province or country of residency. For foreign drivers, we require a valid International Driver’s Permit. Click here for a link to the U.S. government website. Driving History Record

Once you book we will require a copy of your driving history record issued from same authority that issued your driver’s license. 10% Deposit Required When Booking

10% of the total tour costs is required at the time of booking and must be made with an accepted credit card using our online booking system. Once you book and pay the 10% deposit, our system will prevent other potential clients from booking that same tour. Therefore, due to the very limited number of classic vehicles for hire, the deposit is only refundable for a period of seven (7) business days from the time of booking. To cancel, use our contact form and use the word cancellation in the subject. After seven (7) business days have elapsed from the time of booking, the deposit is not refundable. Monday through Friday are considered business days.

Booking Required thirty (30)  Days Prior to Arrival

In order to meet our contractual obligations to our service providers and to adequately manage our fleet of classic automobiles, we require booking not less than 30 days prior to arrival. Contact us for exceptions.

Payment in Full Due 75 Days prior to Arrival in Certified U.S. Funds

We require payment in full in certified U.S. funds sevent-five (75) days prior to arrival. Payment may be made either by certified bank check, cashier’s check, wire transfer (contact us for wiring instructions) or by using our three installment EZ Payment Option. Once the balance is paid, it is not refundable except in the event the tour in cancelled by Blacktop Candy’s due to unforeseen circumstances such as severe weather (hurricane), at which time you may opt for a full refund or reschedule your car hire.

Travel Insurance

Blacktop Candy’s does not sell, profit from or in any way receive benefit from your choosing travel insurance. But, we do recommend you thoroughly research the option and discuss it with your travel planner or legal representative.

Loss Collision Damage Waiver & $1000 Vehicle Damage Deposit

Most traditional rental car companies will allow you present evidence of automobile insurance to cover collision damage or theft to the vehicle. Often American Express and other credit card companies provide their customers with rental damage coverage as well. With classic and historic vehicles, your auto insurer will not cover damages and credit card companies have exceptions to their damage coverage programs that exclude classic and historic vehicles. Therefore, we require you purchase a Loss Collision Damage Waiver, currently priced at $12.50 U.S. Dollars per day, to exempt you from personal responsibility for damage or theft to the classic car above the Vehicle Damage Deposit. The Vehicle Damage Deposit is $1000 U.S. Dollars, is paid upon arrival and prior to vehicle issuance and may either be paid with certified U.S. funds or held with an accepted credit card. At the end of the tour the $1000 hold is released, or in the event of cash payments, the deposit is refunded. Another option is to provide us a $1000 security bond with Blacktop Candy’s American Classic Auto Tours, Inc. as the beneficiary. Contact us for details. In the event of loss or collision damage to the classic car which is the fault of the driver, the cost of the repair will be deducted from the $1000 deposit as long as the vehicle was being operated in accordance with our acceptable use policy. If the damage is greater than $1000, your maximum loss is $1000. Other types of damage such as storm damage, theft, and acts of God, are not the responsibility of the driver.

Blacktop Candy’s Classic Car Hire Does Not Include Air Travel to and from Your Arrival and Departure Destinations

Blacktop Candy’s provides only the classic car with unlimited mileage, Garmin GPS ($12.99 per day and required for self-guided car hires), Loss Collision Damage Waiver ($23.99 per day and required for all classic car hires), and 24 X 7 Premium Roadside Assistance ($12.99 per day and required for self-guided car hires). One-way classic car hires incur a one-time, one-way fee of $600.00. No other items, goods, services or transportation are provided.

Not Included

Only items listed on the included page of this website are included in the total classic car hire cost. All other cost associated with travel including meals are your responsibility.
