How to Request Your Driving Record

As you may imagine, maintaining a fleet of highly prized classic automobiles can be costly and risky business. We're excited to offer our classic car road trips to a world-wide audience of classic car enthusiast, but due diligence (and our insurance company) require that we obtain a three-year driving history from each traveler who will drive our vintage automobiles. Below are links to the State Motor Vehicle Departments of all Fifty states as well as information on obtaining your driving history if you are visiting from outside the U.S. Please let us know of any broken or incorrect links.

International driving-record agencies

Australia
Please visit the Roads and Traffic Authority’s website for information. To obtain a copy of your driving record, you must have proof of identity documents or your driver’s license available. You’ll be asked to complete a request for an information form and pay a fee. You can also purchase a copy of your driving history report here.

For New South Wales, please visit Roads and Traffic Authority at the My Records NSW website.

For Victoria, please visit the VicRoads website and click on “Driver History Report” for a five-year report which costs $7.60.

For South Australia: To obtain a summary of offenses you will need to forward a signed letter to: Information Services, Post Office Box 1, Walkerville 5081. Your letter should contain your requirements and personal details along with return address details. Or by fax to: 08 83432568. The fee is $21 and can be paid by check, money order, Visa, MasterCard, or bank card. Canada (Alberta):
Bring a Driver Abstract Consent to a registry agent office.
If you want to designate someone else to obtain your abstract for you:

1. Fill out the Driver Abstract Consent form; give it to your designee.
2. The person must fill out the Driver Abstract Statement of Intent form, and bring both (the Intent and the Consent forms) to a registry agent office.
3. Finally, s/he can obtain the record from the office and mail or fax it to us, or request it be mailed directly from the office.

Canada (British Columbia):
Please visit the Insurance Corporation for British Columbia. You can call 1-800-663-3051 to have your record sent by mail, e-mail or fax.

Canada (Manitoba):
Please visit Manitoba Public Insurance. You can call (866) 323-0543 toll free, but there is a $10 record fee.

Canada (New Brunswick):
Information can be found at New Brunswick Department of Safety.

To obtain a copy of your driving abstract by mail send your request along with a $10.00 check or money order (payable to Minister of Finance) to:

Canada (Northwest Territories):
Fax requests can be made by sending a copy of two pieces of identification to the Driving and Vehicle Licensing office at 867-873-7487. The cost for the transaction is $12.14 and they ask that you provide credit card information on the fax. Additional questions can be directed to them by phone at 867-873-7487.

Denmark:
Please the RDW’s Vehicle Approval and Information Division and ensure the documents contains information on whether you’ve had traffic violations.

Finland:
Contact the AKE Vehicle Administration (Ajoneuvohallintokeskus) for a Certificate issued by Savitaipale Police Department for a record of any or no traffic violations.

We will need a notarized translation of your casier judiciaire. Your casier judiciaire is available from the Ministére de la Justice. You can order it by filling out an online form or you can request it by mail. Here’s their address:

Greece:
Contact the Ministry of Transfer and Communications to receive your degrees of sentences at S.E.S.O.

India:
Sometimes your driving record is recorded on your physical license. For example, if you have a booklet containing pages for endorsements you can fax a complete copy of your license as proof of your driving history. With some newer plastic licenses, there may be an area that can be punched out if any endorsements have occurred.

Ireland:
For a written/printed record of your driving history you will need to apply in writing.  For more information please visit the Road Safety Authority.

Please send your driving information from the Ministry of Transport and Road Safety, Driver and Vehicle Licensing Department and a statement regarding your criminal record from the Israel Police Traffic Division, Traffic Records Unit.

Your driving record is available in online form from the Ministero dei Transpori as an estratto conto punti patente.

Mexico:
Some can retrieve their record from the Central Office of the Government of the Federal District, Secretariat of Transportation and Roads – Public Transportation Registry Directorate at the Driving License and Permit Inquiry Desk.

Others may also be able to contact their local Public Safety Ministry Department of Transit, such as with the State of Queretaro:

Netherlands:
You’ll need to get the form called “Aanvraag echtheidsverklaring Nederlands rijbewjs” and it can be obtained from the RDW in The Netherlands (www.rdw.nl).

New Zealand:
Please visit the New Zealand Transport Agency. You can obtain your driving record by applying for a Traffic Conviction History. There are three ways to do it. You can apply by:

New Zealand (Aotearoa):
You may apply for a list of traffic offences on your New Zealand driver licence record by either faxing +64 6 953 6267, by emailing toh@landtransport.govt.nz or writing to:

The list of traffic offences includes offences up to seven years old, including Demerit Suspensions records. It also includes information on traffic convictions and sentencing from court appearances.

All Requests must include the following information:
- driver licence number (if known)
- full name (as shown on your licence)
- date of birth
- postal address (to have the information sent)
- OR email address (to receive the information electronically)
- contact phone number

Norway:
Please visit the Licensing Office for information.

Please contact the police in the district where you last resided in Norway and apply for a “Criminal Record Certificate” containing information about traffic violations. It can be obtained by faxing a form to the police department in your district.

Portugal:
Contact the National Traffic Board Licenses Information.

South Africa:
Contact the National Traffic Information System (NaTIS) or your Local Municipality for a statement of any restrictions or endorsements on your record.

Spain:
Your record can be retrieved through the electronic database of the Secretariat of Transportation and Highway Administration Office of the Public Registry for Transportation. Please retrieve a Driver’s Licenses and Permits Reference Sheet which will list any entries in regards to traffic violations. The Ministry of Interior, Directorate General of Traffic—Provincial Traffic Department in Madrid can certify any violations on your record as well.

Sweden:
The Swedish National Police Board can issue you a record stating whether their registrar has any information on you in their records.

Switzerland:
We have received several different records from Switzerland which includes the Automobile and Navigation Services in the Department of Institutions. Their contact information is as follows:
