Longing to trade the stresses of corporate life for a fun and exciting entrepreneurship, Scott headed west along Route 66 and soon thought “Wouldn't this be fun in a classic car?”
Scott was born and raised in Charlotte, NC and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1980. In 2000 he retired with a distinguished career, having also attended N.C. State University (for Business Administration) while on active duty. Shortly after completing military service, Scott founded and operated a regionally leading mortgage brokerage company. In 2012, having been one of the leading mortgage originators in the U.S., Scott left the finance world to focus on his passion: offering world-class motoring tours on the various highways and byways of America.
So he continued west through Oklahoma City, Amarillo, Tucumcari, Santa Fe, Holbrook, Williams and Kingman, and as he stopped and talked with travelers from around the world having made the vestige to the Mother Road, the same theme kept emerging: “Wouldn’t this be an awesome journey in a classic car…just the way it would have been 50 years ago?” It didn’t take much research to realize that no such opportunity existed unless you already own an expensive classic car and are willing to actually pull it out the garage and drive it cross-country. So Blacktop Candy’s was born and now travelers world-wide can drive the same historic road in the same classic cars that took the the Okies west and returning WWII veterans east.
Whether in a teal and white 1955 Chevy Bel Air hardtop, a maroon 1967 Chevy Camaro, a red 1964 Corvette Stingray convertible—or another of Blacktop Candy’s upgraded classic cars—you can now make the road trip of your dreams in an unbelievable classic car!
Our mission statement:
“Provide world-class road trips in classic American cars to a global market of travel and vintage automobile enthusiasts.”
